Painted with Light - Anza Borrego State Park - Borrego Springs, CA

The night sky in Anza Borrego State Park is perfect for stargazing. This picture was taken in December 2013 on a clear winter night about an hour after sunset. We were couple miles off road close to the Slot Canyon in the dark of the night with no lights around us. I setup the camera on a tripod with a 30sec exposure and used the mobile phone flash to 'light paint' the foreground. The tiny hills in the foreground were lit up by the headlights of another car that was off-roading some distance away and provided just enough light.

McWay Falls - Big Sur, CA

McWay Falls is an 80-foot waterfall located in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park that flows year-round. This picture was taken back in November over the Thanksgiving weekend during our day trip to Big Sur. It was taken few minutes after sunset when there was still some twilight and stars started to appear in the sky.

Chiswell Islands - Kenai Peninsula, Alaska

Chiswell Islands are a group of rocky, uninhabited islands, accessible only by boat or airplane, within the Kenai Peninsula Borough of Alaska in the Gulf of Alaska.

On our second to last day of our Alaska trip, we decided to take a cruise tour from Seward to Kenai Fjords. If you plan on visiting this part of the world, I would definitely recommed this tour as you get to see a lot of marine life. We sighted whales, orcas, dolphins along with various other things. This picture was taken as our cruise boat entered Aialik Bay. It shows the Chiswell Islands in the background covered in slight mist and fog along with another tour boat.

Mount McKinley - Eielson Visitor Center, Denali National Park, Alaska

Here is a picture of Mount McKinley taken from the Eielson Visitor Center during our trip to Denali National Park last summer. It is the highest mountain in North America and is a sight to behold. This picture was taken using 1/15 sec shutter speed to capture the waving US Flag.

Desert Palms - Anza Borrego Visitor Center - Borrego Springs, CA

From a recent trip to Anza Borrego Desert State Park in California.

Clark Dry Lake - Anza Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Springs, CA

Anza Borrego is the largest state park in California. The park spans San Diego, Imperial and Riverside counties in Southern California. It offers lot of hikes and beautiful scenic drives as well as wild flowers and desert plants.

We took a day trip out from my uncle's place in Escondido to Anza Borrego when we visited Southern California in December. It was definitely not enough time to see everything that this amazing park has to offer and we were only able to explore few things including the Clark Dry Lake. In order to get to the dry lake bed, you have to drive 3-4 miles off road on a moderately sandy road. Though most of the cars should not have any issues traversing this road, it is recommended to use a 4 wheel drive on most of the other off roads in the park.

Enjoy this view of the dry lake bed with the hill's to the east in the background being lit by the setting sun.
